Healing the Father Wound
Becoming the person you were always meant to be.
This programme explores what I have come to understand as the father wound.
By this, I do not simply mean having a father who was absent, abusive or emotionally unavailable. Nor do I mean that every father has the same role in every family.
Rather, I am referring to a particular pattern that I have repeatedly observed in my own healing journey and in my work with others: when our early experience of fathering leaves us without a deep internal sense of protection, encouragement and support as we move into the world.
The father wound is often a wound of movement.
It can leave us longing to be seen, whilst simultaneously hiding ourselves. It can make visibility feel dangerous, success feel unsafe, and rest feel impossible. We may become fiercely independent, constantly seeking approval, afraid of authority, or unable to trust our own inner knowing.
Many people spend years trying to think their way out of these patterns.
In my experience, lasting change comes when the nervous system begins to experience something different.
This 8 week online group programme is not about changing the past. It is about gradually developing within yourself the qualities that may have been missing in childhood: protection, encouragement, self-trust, healthy power, and the confidence to move into life as your authentic self.
This programme enables us to give ourselves what was missing.
When we do not receive what we need from the father as a child, we are often left waiting for someone to give us what we need.
Instead, as adults, we can begin to cultivate the internal capacities that support a different way of living.

Throughout this programme we will gently explore how to develop an inner experience of:
-
Feeling protected rather than constantly vigilant.
-
Trusting your own body, intuition and decisions.
-
Taking up space without shame.
-
Moving towards opportunities instead of withdrawing from them.
-
Receiving support rather than carrying everything alone.
-
Experiencing healthy personal power without domination or self-abandonment.
-
Feeling increasingly free to become who you are.
This is not about becoming someone different.
It is about creating the conditions in which the person you have always been can emerge.

This is an experiential programme rather than a teaching-based course.
Each 90-minute session includes discussion, guided exploration, practical somatic and interoceptive exercises, and Quantum Healing processes designed to help create meaningful change at a subconscious level.
• Interoception - learning to notice and understand the signals coming from your body and nervous system
• Somatic practices - simple exercises that help you work with emotional and nervous system responses in real time
• Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT/Tapping) - a gentle technique that combines focused attention with tapping on acupressure points to help reduce emotional charge and create new patterns of response
• Quantum Healing - a process used to identify, release and transform subconscious beliefs, emotional patterns and relational imprints that may be keeping visibility feeling unsafe
The emphasis throughout is on creating lasting change at a body and subconscious level, rather than simply gaining more insight. You will leave each session with a deeper understanding of yourself, practical tools you can continue to use, and optional exercises to support integration between sessions.
There is no expectation that healing follows a particular timeline.
Each nervous system unfolds in its own way. The invitation of this programme is simply to create the conditions in which change becomes possible.

Who is this programme for?
This programme may resonate if you recognise yourself in any of the following:
-
You long to be seen but often find yourself hiding.
-
You struggle to trust yourself, even when you know what feels right.
-
Success, visibility or recognition feel unexpectedly uncomfortable.
-
You carry responsibility easily but find it difficult to receive support.
-
You often feel that you must prove yourself before you deserve rest or love.
-
You find it difficult to set boundaries or inhabit your own authority.
-
You notice yourself becoming smaller in the presence of certain people.
-
You long to live more freely, but something in your body continues to hold you back.
You do not need to identify every aspect of the father wound to benefit from this work.
You simply need a sense that some part of you is ready to move forward in a different way.
Programme Outline
Week One – Recognising the Father Wound
The core question here is 'How has my relationship with my father shaped the way I move through the world?'
We will be understanding how early experiences continue to shape the nervous system, relationships, visibility and movement through life. The themes we will be looking at are:
-
Visibility
-
Authority
-
Fear of being seen
-
Self-doubt
-
Over-achieving or under-achieving
-
Fear of men
-
Fear of success
-
Fear of disappointing others
Week Two – Creating Internal Safety
The healthy father says "I've got you."
Many people never internalised that. So they become hypervigilant. Or they wait for somebody else to rescue them.
The goal we are working towards for this programme is 'I can feel protected from within'.
We will be beginning to develop an embodied sense of protection, grounding and support.
Week Three – Reclaiming Your Right to Take Up Space
This week we will be working with the following questions. Can I...
-
take up space?
-
speak?
-
make mistakes?
-
be visible?
-
disagree?
-
succeed?
This is where shame often appears.
We will be supporting towards developing a healthy sense of visibility, voice and the capacity to be seen.
Week Four – Healthy Power
Many people learned that power equals
-
domination
-
aggression
-
abandonment
-
humiliation
So they reject their own power.
Healthy father energy says:
Power protects.
Power creates.
Power serves.
Power has boundaries.
Power doesn't need to dominate.
This weeks exploration will be around what empowerment feels like in the body. We will be exploring boundaries, personal authority and developing a new relationship with strength.
Week Five – Trusting Yourself
A healthy father gradually hands responsibility back to the child.
He communicates: "I believe you can do this."
Without that, many adults continually seek permission.
This module develops
-
self-trust
-
decision making
-
intuition
-
embodied knowing
Week Six – Learning to Receive
Many father-wounded people become fiercely independent.
The nervous system never experiences: "I am held."
So this becomes about learning to receive.
-
Receiving help.
-
Receiving praise.
-
Receiving love.
-
Receiving rest.
-
Receiving protection.
-
Receiving success.
Week Seven - Stepping fully into life
As we begin to feel safer within ourselves, something starts to shift.
Rather than organising our lives around fear, approval or the anticipation of what others might think, we begin to move from a place of increasing self-trust.
This week explores what it means to take meaningful steps into life while remaining connected to your body.
Instead of waiting until you feel completely ready, we begin to discover that movement itself creates new possibilities, new learning and new confidence.
Week 8 - Living from your body
One of the hidden consequences of the father wound is that we can become highly skilled at observing life rather than participating in it.
We analyse ourselves.
We analyse other people.
We search for certainty before taking action.
We try to think our way into a different future.
Yet our bodies are quietly waiting to show us another way.
This final week is an invitation to shift your centre of gravity.
Rather than looking outside yourself for the next step, we begin to reconnect with the body's innate capacity to sense, respond and move.
Through gentle somatic practices, movement, breath, interoception and embodied exploration, we cultivate a growing experience of living from within rather than reacting to the world around us.
This isn't about abandoning thought. It is about allowing the body to become an equal partner in how we navigate life.
As this relationship deepens, many people notice a greater sense of vitality, creativity and ease. Decisions become less driven by fear and more guided by an embodied sense of what feels alive.
The programme closes not with the idea of becoming a different person, but with the experience of inhabiting yourself more fully.
Healing is not simply the absence of old wounds.
It is the growing freedom to live from the wisdom of your own body and to meet life from that place.
This isn't really an ending. It's emergence.
The questions we will be working with at this stage are:
-
What am I here to create?
-
What wants to come through me?
-
What would my life look like if fear no longer organised it?

Why is this a group programme?
Many of the wounds we carry were formed in relationship.
For that reason, they often heal most deeply in relationship too.
While individual work can be profoundly valuable, there is something unique about experiencing safety, authenticity and acceptance within a small group of people walking a similar path.
This programme is intentionally offered to a small group so that everyone has space to be seen, heard and supported.
Our aim is not simply to learn new ideas.
It is to create an environment where your nervous system can gradually discover that visibility can be safe, connection can feel supportive, and you no longer have to navigate life alone.
There is no pressure to share beyond what feels right for you.
The emphasis throughout is on creating a compassionate, grounded and respectful space where each person can move at the pace that feels right for their own system.
My role is not to promise transformation or to force change.
It is to create the conditions in which your nervous system can begin to experience something new. From there, each person's healing unfolds in its own way.
Format
The programme consists of eight weekly live online sessions, each lasting approximately 90 minutes.
Sessions will take place on Mondays, with the final time agreed once the group has formed. My intention is to offer an afternoon group where possible, although an evening option may be considered depending on participants' availability.
To create a safe, supportive and spacious environment, numbers will be kept intentionally small.
